For over 10 years I have had a severely infected toenail. I've tried everything. Prescribed antibotic's cleared it up but once I stopped using the drug's the infection returned. This is huge for me to post this because I am extremely embarrassed that my once-beautiful-not-a-pimple-to-be-seen face ended up like this. And yes it's only on one side strange huh! For months I tried eliminating foods, spending hundreds on amazing skin care brands, changing alcoholic drinks, seeing dermatologists, changing cleaning products you name it I've done it. I finally bit the bullet and booked in to see Mackays only allergist. I knew exactly in the back of my mind what was causing it by this stage - I just needed the confirmation.
For awhile now I have been thinking it was coconut related as coconut is in every product you can imagine. There are 25 hidden coconut ingredients that all come under a different name - it is crazy!!! I have learnt ALOT from months of researching.
My bloods came back positive to a coconut allergy of all forms and a skin patch test to an ingredient found in everything including baby wipes crazy right! I have an Epi pen in case I happen to eat coconut, that won't be fully determined until I complete a food challenge In Brisbane so for now I need to stay away from eating it all together.
